‘Gurbani’ is a new daily soap opera which started on March 18th, 2013 and is being aired on Colors TV channel in between 10:30pm- 11:00pm time slot.
This television soap has a woman oriented subject and is about a young girl’s story, born and brought up in Punjab.
‘Gurbani’ is about a large family, which lives in a village and is eager to marry their daughter to an NRI. The aim of the parents is to marry their girl to a well settled NRI and that too before the wedding of their neighboring relatives.
Gurbani is a Sikh word where Gur means Guru and Bani means word. So, those who are named as Gurbani represent Guru Govind’s words or children. For this reason, the village couple names their girl after the name of their religion’s lord.
Though the couple is eager in search of a NRI boy, Gurbani has plans to marry a good looking Punjabi munda and settle down in her hometown. Already, the hometown is filled with young girls, who are married to NRI’s, but are never entertained by the in-laws or their husband’s in real life. As a result they start living with their parents, despite the fact that they are married. But the craze for an NRI alliance doesn’t die in the state as more people are interested in marrying their girls to foreign chaps.
What happens to our Gurbani is an interesting tale, which has to be watched on the small screen.
